Or songs to make you ditch the dishes and do a six legged dance around the living room with your kids.
Both are good and needed.  And speaking of need…

Song #1 ~ “The Heart” by Needtobreathe
I went on a date with my husband to see Needtobreathe in concert.  Dates with him help me to breathe.  I was standing to my feet clapping and dancing when this one was sung.

“Long live the heart,
Long live the soul
That knows what it wants
No matter how far
How heavy this load
It never lets go”

Song #2 ~ “Gone Gone Gone” by Philip Philips
And here’s another one about the heart.  My heart.  It’s a love song.  It reminds me that I am not alone in this life.  And I’m not only talking about my husband, although he has “shared in my suffering, to make me well when my hope is dangling by a string”.   My favorite part is the bridge:

“Like a drum, baby, don’t stop beating.
Like a drum, baby, don’t stop beating.
Like a drum, baby, don’t stop beating.
Like a drum my heart never stops beating for you.”

It’s like God is saying it right to my heart ~
Don’t stop beating, Rona.  Keep going.  Be who I made you to be.
Keep beating.  Keep beating.
Know that My heart has never stopped beating for you.

Song #3 ~ “I Will Wait” by Mumford & Sons
Because it takes a choice, an intentional choice to wait.  And it’s good to be reminded to not give up in the waiting.  I hear this song and think, For now, I will wait.  I will wait for the Lord’s timing.  I will wait on the words that He has told me, just like a waitress waits on her table.  She keeps coming back to it, serving it, taking care of it.  She does not abandon it, not unless she wants to miss out on the reward that is given to her at the end of her waiting.

“Now I’ll be bold
As well as strong
And use my head alongside my heart
So tame my flesh
And fix my eyes
A tethered mind freed from the lies

Raise my hands
Paint my spirit gold
And bow my head
Keep my heart slow”

Here’s to the big fat tip that comes at the end of waiting!
And until then, keep washing those dishes and dancing in your living room.
